A heat pump works on the principle of heat transfer — it moves heat energy from a cooler area to a warmer one using a small amount of electricity.

The heat pump system has four main components:
Evaporator Coil – absorbs heat from air/water/ground.

Expansion Valve – lowers the pressure of the refrigerant before it cycles again.
In heating mode, it absorbs heat from outside (even cold air has heat) and releases it indoors.
In cooling mode, it works like an air conditioner — removing heat from indoors and releasing it outside.
